This
primer promises to diminish pores, offer all day shine control, hide imperfections,
even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of redness and make your makeup
last longer. It feels gorgeous on the skin and quite hydrating and does even
out my skin but this does NOTHING for my oily face and when it’s marketed as a 12
hour shine free primer I’m allowed to feel disappointed that it doesn’t work
and I have to powder my face constantly throughout the day!
Mark Hill Wonder Ball Brush 6 in 1 Styling Sphere £9.99
This
looks like a torture device and it feels like one too! It’s meant to detangle
wet or dry hair and add lift to roots and it might if I could actually get it through
my hair! This is a complete gimmick and actually painful for me to use, I tried
to use this to blow dry my hair and it got so tangled I thought I would have to
use scissors to get it out! I hate it!
I just
don’t get the hype with this one at all and believe me I have tried. I’ve went
through a few of these pots and this will be the last one. It does feel nice
and hydrating when it’s on and it smells nice too but if I put this on at night
it dries out quickly and I sometimes wake up needing to put more on. It also
leaves me with disgusting white bits in between my lips when I wake up which is
the reason I choose not to wear it during the day. I find Carmex and Blistex
work much better on my lips overnight
and are much more affordable so I will stick to those!
A
product I bought because of the hype and the most money I’ve ever spent on a
mascara and what a waste of money it was. If you like clumpy lashes with no
volume, length or definition you will love this. It seriously makes me look like I have about three lashes on each eye! The wand is an absolute mess
with the fibres even after wiping the excess off the side of the tube and I absolutely
hate it. It’s got marginally better as it’s dried out but I’ll be sticking to
the drugstore as usual for my mascara choices from now on!
I am
very hard to please when it comes to foundation – I have acne scarred skin and
struggle with pigmentation issues as well as uneven texture. Paired with mainly
oily but sometimes dehydrated skin and you will see why I’m so tough on my
base!
I
think out of the three foundations I have included is the most disappointing! It’s
an oil free foundation with a medium to full coverage that promises to be undetectable
and leave you looking radiant but I look like an oil slick when I wear this! It
didn’t matter what primer or powder I wore, nothing worked with it!
I have
the shade Vanilla which is orange as you can see from the swatch and I have to
be wearing tan to make this work for me even though it’s supposedly one of the
lighter shades (at least it was when I ordered it last year!). This wears off
my chin and lower cheeks to the point they look stark against the shade of the
foundation and for an oil free foundation I can’t believe how oily my skin gets
with it!
I was
so excited when Urban Decay released this as it promises to provide full
coverage with a matte finish for all night wear and a flawless looking
complexion. It’s got a high amount of pigment, its waterproof and it absorbs
oil to reduce appearance of shine.
Although
this looks good when first applied as the pigment really is amazing and it
gives good coverage, it fades like mad on me! It gathers and wears off my nose
and chin awfully so I end up looking patchy though I will say it doesn’t make
me look oily so the matte finish gets a thumbs up from me.
This
promises to even out discolouration, stop shine and hide blemishes while
offering amazing coverage so long lasting you can go 24 hours without
reapplying. It’s meant to stay flawless, fade, free and transfer proof but on
my skin is doesn’t!
It clings
to fine lines I didn’t even know where there, is patchy AF on my cheeks and chin
and shine comes through my t-zone and chin after only a few hours wear. It has
a tendency to “sit” on my skin no matter how much I’ve blended it in and transfers
too.
Too Faced Born This Way Vanilla, Urban Decay All Nighter 2, Kat Von D Light 45 foundation swatches |
I have
recently found a day cream in the Nivea Cellular Radiance range that I talked about last week that works well with all three of these foundations so I have
been getting on with them a lot better recently as they have been lasting
longer on my skin! However, I don’t think I should have to use such a specific product
underneath to get the results the foundations themselves promise!
Estee
Lauder Double Wear is Holy Grail for me and I don’t think I’ll ever find something
that tops it so I’m going to stop trying! Rant over! That’s my disappointing products;
let me know what you think of these and if you’ve tried them!
I've also scheduled this post a little earlier than usual as I have a blog sale going up this evening! These three foundations will be in it - I've done a good job of selling them haven't I?

That once more prooves that products are compketely different for each and averyone of us. The Nuxe Rêve de Miel is the only thing keeping my lips hydrated in the winter!
ReplyDeleteLinda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking
Exactly! Its so strange that what works so well for one person doesn't for another! xx
DeleteThat hair brush baffles me - how is it even supposed to work?! That lip balm did absolutely nothing for me either! I love the Too Faced foundation but I have dry skin so maybe that's why it worked for me xx
ReplyDeleteBeautylymin| LuxurySkincareGiveaway
That could be why! I though with it being oil free it would do better on my skin though :( the hair brush is awful! Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't love Reve de Miel! xx
DeleteI was just staring at the Fairydrops Scandal mascara and all I could think was 'what the hell is that'? How is this brush supposed to work? How????? What a mess.

Hahaha I know! Awful! xx
DeleteI was the same with the S&G Primer, it did nothing for my oily skin. I have oily skin and find the Too Faced Foundation lasts so well as long as I use the RCMA Powder.
ReplyDeletewww.EmmysBeautyCave.com
I need to give the RCMA powder more of a chance and test it out properly at work! xx
DeleteEeeeeerk dissappointed by the brush😫
ReplyDeletehttps://anaturellecraving.blogspot.my/2017/05/taking-stock.html
Yup, its awful! xx
DeleteGosh the mascara looks shooking! 😱How is it even possible that something like that can be sold? 🙈😬
ReplyDeleteI think you've made the right choice to just stay with the foundation from Estee Lauder. Why change something when you're absolutely happy about it? 😉
www.tanjarickert.com
Exactly! What a waste of money when I had my perfect foundation all along! xx
DeleteGutted that the brush turned out to be a gimmick, I hate it when brands play us like that haha! And what the hell is that mascara wand? It's shocking! x
ReplyDeleteLottie Unlimited | Beauty, +SizeFashion and Lifestyle Blog
Haha I know right! It got such good reviews too! xx
DeleteI agree with you about the Fairydrops Scandal Queen Waterproof mascara, I had high hopes for this mascara and, overall, I'm really disappointed! As you said, it's getting better as it dries out, but I hate the wand so much that I use my old It Cosmetic Tightline wand instead otherwise my lashes are so clumpy I need to redo my entire makeup!
ReplyDeletehttp://fannyanddailybeauty.com
I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Its so bad I cant get over it! xx
DeleteThat hair brush!! It looks awful!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!

SheBlushes
It feels awful too! xx
DeleteThis is the first time I'm reading about Nuxe lip balm listed as disappointing product and same goes to the Fairydrop mascara! What a refreshing read and thank you for your honest, Danielle!
ReplyDeleteThank you Shireen! xx
DeleteOmg that mascara wand looks like a thing of nightmares. I cringe at the thought of putting that anywhere near my lashes lol. The hairbrush also looks terrifying! I hope you didn't actually have to cut your hair out of it :/
ReplyDeleteThe UD foundation is so weird! I swatched it on my hand once at ulta, and by the time I left the store it oxidized into a totally different color! So weird.
Mili | Sharmtoaster
I didn't haha I just had to spend about half an hour detangling! xx
DeleteThe wand of this mascara looks terrible, no wonder you didn't like the results.
ReplyDeleteNina's Style Blog
It's shocking! xx
DeleteI can't even begin to describe how awful that mascara looks!
ReplyDeleteLauren x Huggled
Haha tell me about it xx
DeleteThe soap and glory primer did not for my oily skin but on dry days its perfect! x
ReplyDeleteI don't have dry days :( it does feel beautiful on the skin though! xx
DeleteI loved this post! That hair brush literally looks scary. I have super thick, curly and i know for a fact that would get stick in my hair to! Such a shame about that UD foundation, I really like it. I was debating the Kat Von d foundation but it doesn't sound great! What's up with mascara it looks so strange haha xx
ReplyDeletewww.lpagebeauty.com
Thank you Leanne! I cant get over how bad they were! xx
DeleteI completely agree with you regarding the Nuxe Reve de Miel, however many times I try it it does nothing for my dry lips. I picked up the much cheaper basic Nivea lip balm a couple of months ago, and this one is a miracle worker in comparison. On the other hand thought, I absolutely love the UD foundation, it is my go to evening foundation. It's such a shame you haven't gotten on with it, but everyone's skin is different.
ReplyDeleteKristy | thevioletblonde.com
Exactly! That's why I'm loving reading the comments on this post! More people are agreeing with me that I thought so I'm glad i'm not the only one who has problems with these products! xx
DeleteGreat post. I am sad to see some of my faves here - the S&G primer though I do know what you mean, and the Nuxe lip balm which is basically a constant companion for me - but thanks for being honest about the Too Faced foundation. I can strike that off my wishlist now xxx
ReplyDeleteUmmBabyBeauty
Or try and get a sample before forking out for it! xx
DeleteThat mascara looks like it would be so clumpy! I love the Born this Way foundation but I have dry skin and I do have to set it with a powder.
ReplyDeleteBeauty From Katie
Ahh really! I though it was supposed to be good for oily skin thats why I bought it! xx
DeleteThat hair brush/styling tool looks so intimidating haha! So sorry that it didn't work for you! I recently threw away a bunch of gimmicky hair tools I've bought over the years- so many of them just don't work for me. Or maybe I just don't know how to use them properly lol.

Haha I'm with you, this will be going in the bin now I've at least managed to get a blog post out of it! xx
DeleteGreat Blogpost :) I really enjoy reading those types of reviews.
ReplyDeleteI personally love the Too Faced Foundation :)

Pink Frenzy
I don't like it at all! xx
DeleteI hate when items such as the heck of a blot primer claim something and it literally does the complete opposite, so frustrating! Ew the wand of that mascara is actually disgusting!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte / Charlotte's Picks
Isn't it! Such a mess! xx
DeleteI love the Nuxe lip balm! its the only thing that saves my lips when I use it overnight, funny how everyone is different. I kind of agree with you on the S&G primer, its okay at smoothing but doesnt make a huge difference to how long makeup actually lasts!
ReplyDeleteclaresloves.blogspot.com
Yeah it feels so good but doesn't stop my oils :( I'm loving the comments on this post seeing how one product I don't like someone else loves! xx
DeleteYou know I couldn't make the UD foundation work for me either so I won't be trying the Kat Von D one anytime soon. I'm still tempted to try the TF one though.
ReplyDeleteAnd what's wrong with that mascara?? It look horrendous! LOL! x
Mummy's Beauty Corner
The TF one might work better with your skin type! The mascara is just a mess! xx
DeleteSuch a shame you didn't love the NUXE lip balm - it's an essential for me every night before bed! That mascara wand looks nasty as hell. Definitely puts me off trying Fairydrops!
ReplyDeleteMorgan | Hyacinth Girl
I know! I do like it but I just don't get the hype and have other lip balms I would repurchase over it! xx
DeleteSorry to hear about your disappointment with the Too Faced Foundation. I love it, though I havent used it in a while, and I guess it's better for dry skin?
ReplyDeleteHannah
Floraful
Yes it definitely must be! Glad you get on with it! xx
DeleteThe mascara looks awful, definitely avoiding that! Maybe the S&G primer would be better for dry skin? x
ReplyDeleteA Blushing Beauty Blog
I think it would! Just annoying that its advertised as keeping you oil free! xx
DeleteWonderful post, love it! ♥

Great post Danielle. I wanted to try Born this way foundation but not very keen now.. haha :)
ReplyDeleteAsh | www.mstantrum.com
Haha! A lot of people seem to love it so maybe it would work better for you but it's not my cup of tea! Xx
DeleteLoved reading this post Danielle! I have to agree about that NUXE balm, whenever I want to buy it - something stops me. Those three foundations would look horrible on me, because my skin dry, so all in all - and now I am so happy that I never bothered in first place :-D
ReplyDeleteNaya // www.partyparrotblog.com
