Anyone else have a thing for do it all face palettes? Here are two new
ones to my collection and a rundown of my thoughts on them!
I finally caved and bought my first Charlotte Tilbury products about a
month ago after seeing this palette online. I had held off buying any CT products
up until now because the prices are extortionate but I love palettes like this
as they give you the chance to try a few products from the brand in one go so I
bit the bullet and ordered it! First things first this, the palette is small,
smaller than it looks! It is split into different steps so steps 1, 2 and 3 are
for brightening, enhancing and smoking out the eye, step 4 is for bronzing,
steps 5 and 6 are for a swish and pop of blush and step 7 is highlight.
I have to say that I am disappointed by the eyeshadows – they barely
show up on my fair skin and the first two aren’t different enough in colour for
me. They are super finely milled though, blend well and don’t crease – you just
can’t see much of a contrast between the shades!
As well as this, the blushes are not as pigmented as I would like them
to be and the size of the pans is disappointing – they are the same size as the
eyeshadow pans and I would have preferred smaller eyeshadow pans if there was a
way to make the blush pans bigger. Again the formula feels lovely and they do
always say it’s easier to add than take away which is definitely something to
stick to when it comes to blush!
Onto the positives - I LOVE the bronzer and highlighter. Way more than
I thought I would! These are meant to be the same shades as the infamous Bronze
and Glow which I don’t have to compare but I do know that I absolutely love
this combo! I’ve been using the bronzer under my cheekbone to contour as well
as over the high points on my face for a bit of an all over colour and it’s so
subtle but noticeable if that makes sense? It looks very warm toned in the
swatch but on my face it looks so natural, I love it!
I’ve then been using my Morphe fan brush to very lightly highlight my
cheekbones and I love the effect, super subtle as I use a light hand but I’m
sure you could go heavy handed and still look amazing!
This is more than I would usually spend on a palette this size
considering pan size but the quality of the products is lovely. I do wish there
was more variation in the eyeshadow shades though and this palette might not be
an option for those with darker skin as you do have to build up quite a lot of
product to see a result but it does hit the natural beauty term it’s aiming for
on the head.
I ummed and ahhed for weeks before splurging and it is limited edition
so not available at the minute but who knows, it could make a reappearance in
the future – and hopefully with some new darker shades!
Stila Perfect Me, Perfect Hue in Light/Medium (£28)
Unlike the CT palette, this is one that does come with different shade
variations! The one I have is Light/Medium and you might have seen it featured
in my last wishlist post. I wasn’t actually planning on buying it, however,
Cult Beauty had a GWP (I’m a sucker for offers and the last 2 have been
amazing!) so even though basically everything I needed wanted was out of
stock I still found my basket full and this was in it!
Now I’m not a massive fan of the Stila products I have tried in the
past – the lip glazes and In the Light palette being massive disappointments
for me - but when I saw these Perfect Me/Perfect Hue palettes I got heart eye emoji’s.
l-r: Artistic (base), Dazzling (highlight), Ambitious (lid), Spontaneous (crease), Mischievous (liner) |
Five eyeshadows and 2 blushers for £28 seemed like a decent price point
and once I had a swatch I could feel the quality! The shadows are silky soft with
good pigmentation although again I wish there was more of a mid-tone shade
option instead of two very light shades. The shimmer colour (Ambitious) is not
as warm toned/orange in real life as the swatch and I don’t normally wear
shimmer during the day but this is nice and subtle and quite golden.
l-r: Charming, Angelic |
Again, this palette is smaller than I was expecting and the packaging
was plastic so it feels a bit cheap, I was expecting it to be metal for some
reason, I think because of the colour of the casing, but I can’t fault the
formulation! The blushers are lovely and pigmented too and I love that they are
both matte shades.
Overall, I really like both palettes for different reasons but I find
that with the Charlotte Tilbury palette, I am reaching for mainly the bronzer
and highlighter and passing on the eyeshadows in particular. The Stila palette
is much more affordable and I love the fact they have thought through a range
that caters to more than one skin tone.
So those are the two newest face palettes to my collection, have you
tried either? What did you think?
Danielle xx
ive not tried either and the the CT one seems like one to pass as I feel I can get a nice bronzer and highlighter elsewhere :)

Definitely pricey for what it is! I totally get the hype with Bronze and Glow now though! Xx
DeleteI love face palettes, they are great for travelling or easy everyday makeup.
ReplyDeleteAren't they! I love them! Xx
Deletei love the orange-y blush on the stila palette! Really love this review format!

It's so pretty! Thank you! Xx
DeleteSo disappointing that the shadows and blushes aren’t that great! I can definitely see what you mean in your swatch pictures. I have the CT Filmstar Bronze & Glow and I’m obsessed. I completely agree, when the contour shade is applied to the skin it looks natural and soft. The highlight is also one of my favourites, so subtle or pigmented - whatever you prefer. That shimmer shade in the Stila palette looks super pretty. Also the blushes look a lot more pigmented than the CT palette too. I haven’t tried either but I think I’d go for the Stila one.xx

I totally get the hype over Bronze and Glow now! The other products weren't as pigmented as its hoped but I'm still glad I have it in my collection now as I probably wouldn't have bought bronze and glow on its own! Xx
DeleteI love face palettes so much! I'm after the Becca Champagne Glow face palette when it gets released, I really want it!
ReplyDeleteLauren Ashleigh xx
Ooh did you get it! It looks gorgeous but I think it's a little too glowy for me! Xx
DeleteI picked up the Stila palette in another shade recently but haven't actually had a chance to try it yet! It does seem very good value for money though :)

I thought so too! Love that they do a shade range in it! Xx
DeleteI have the CT Bronze & Glow palette which I LOVE so I couldn't justify splurging on this new face palette but glad I didn't now since the eyeshadows are such a let down. I have been tempted by the Stila palette but then again stopped myself as I just have enough similar shades as it is x
ReplyDeleteBeauty with charm
I wish I had your will power! I couldn't justify splurging on the bronze and glow on its own so glad I have this little palette even though it is extortionate! The quality of the Stila palette is brilliant! Xx
DeleteI really want both of these palettes, they're so stunning!

Aren't they! Xx
DeleteI also made my first Charlotte Tilbury purchase the other day! I'm so excited to receive them in the mail! I have been wanting to go back to get that bronze and glow palette and reading another positive just tempts me more lol. Both blush shades in the stila palette are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteMili | Sharmtoaster
They are such gorgeous shades! Ooh what did you get? Xx
DeleteSo many raved about this CT face palette but I gave it a miss because I know the shades won't show up on my skin tone. I really like the Stila palette though, I think the shades are better than the CT one.
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
They are much more pigmented! Xx
DeleteThank you for your honest review! As a pale skinned girl, it's good to know that the CT palette won't really work for my skin tone. I love Stila palettes! This one looks beautiful!
ReplyDeletewww.thebeautydojo.com
It's lovely isn't it! Xx
DeleteI passed on purchasing the CT palette as I have lots of similar shades and products from her line already, but I'm quite glad about that if the eyeshadows aren't great. I haven't even seen the Stila palette before, but it's shot straight to the top of my current, beauty wishlist! So stunning!

The shadows are so buttery they are gorgeous! Xx
DeleteThe few products I have with any sort of eyeshadow/blush/bronzer combinations in them, I never reach for. I'm not sure why but I prefer choosing each individually! I do love Stila products, though, especially their eyeshadows so I would go for the Stila palette over the Charlotte Tilbury one!
ReplyDeletewww.beautyfromkatie.blogspot.com
I love do all palettes for trying brands I haven't before to get a feel for the products! The Stila palette is gorgeous quality! Xx
DeleteI love the look of that CT palette, but those colors would barely show up on my skin. Such a bummer.
ReplyDeleteSam || Beautydetour
I know it is so disappointing, I really do have to dig in to them to get good payoff! Xx
DeleteI'm not really a fan of palettes like these, I'm one of the odd people that like to have a different palette for everything! But these types of palettes are ideal for traveling!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte // www.charlottespicks.com
Yes aren't they! They're great for trying out products from a brand you don't own much from as well! Xx
DeleteThey look so similar, but yes I agree I would have to go with Stila as CT palette doesn't work with my skin tone. A shame, because CT formulas are so nice. Didn't even know Stila had a palette like this! Thanks for sharing x

DeleteI've been eyeing up the Stila one. I love the formula of stila shadows so hopefully this will be same. £28 Is i good price i think xx

They are gorgeous! Xx
DeleteI saw a YouTube review of the CT palette and it's really small and it's not a good sign that the eyeshadows are not the best. The Stila palette is much better value and it looks nicer. x
ReplyDeleteMummy’s Beauty Corner
Stila definitely gives more colour payoff! Xx
DeleteI have been looking for a good face palette and I love CT but the Stila one look even nicer.
ReplyDeleteBEAUTETUDE
Yes it's gorgeous! Xx
DeleteSuch a great detailed review of the two palettes hun! I have to say the CT one didn't appeal to me based on the shades, I mean I do like the concept but for my warm medium skintone it just wouldn't have been worth it at all. The stila shades are much more up my alley!
ReplyDeleteIqra | The Blushing Giraffe x
Thanks Iqra! Yes it definitely doesn't show up as well as I was expecting! The Stila is more affordable and comes in different shade ranges too :) xx
DeleteAh I saw these both come out at the same time and wondered if someone would do a comparison post, super useful! It's a shame neither ticked all the boxes for you, especially the CT as it was expensive. I love Stila as a brand, I have so many of their products and love them all so I'm sure I'd love that one!
ReplyDeleteThe Makeup Directory
It is such lovely quality, I'm so impressed! Xx
DeleteI love how ''Cheek pop'' looks like :) Great review x

Haha I love that too! Xx
DeleteLove these colours!!
ReplyDeleteNatalyG.co.uk
Thank you! Xx
DeleteLuckily for my wallet, I'm not really into all-in-one palettes. If I had to choose between these two, I'd probably opt for the Stila one, as it sounds better quality than the CT one.
ReplyDeletehttp://carolinapage.eu
It's definitely more pigmented and more affordable! Xx
DeleteThese colours are gorgeous and they suit you so well!!

DeleteFor some reason I've never been particularly attracted to all in one palettes. The CT one does look nice, but it really is a shame that the eyeshadows aren't more pigmented. X
ReplyDeleteKate Louise Blogs
I know I was so disappointed! I love them for trying a few different products from a brand at once! Xx
DeleteThese face palettes look gorgeous!!!!

They are definitely a lot more pigmented! Xx
DeleteI was tempted by the CT palette but the eyeshadows let it down I think - I'd prefer if the shadows were more warm toned. I like the look of the Stila one! xx
ReplyDeleteBeautylymin
The Stila one is great! Xx
Deleteface pallettes are the best ! i have to give these a try
ReplyDeletehttp://www.carolinapinglo.com/
I love them too! Xx
DeleteI haven't got full face palettes for ages and I am not really sure if I'd use them, that's why I keep skipping them. Shame with the CT eyeshadows, I'd expect more from it. for £28, Stila palette looks good!
ReplyDeleteEla BellaWorld
I was too! The Stila palette is great! Xx
DeleteThat looks lovely! Wish I understood more about makeup ha! xx

ReplyDeleteMacarons and Mischief
Thank you! Xx
DeleteI haven't tried either of these, but I love the look of the Stila blush! The CT shadows definitely look disappointing- what a shame!
ReplyDeleteShe Likes to Shop
I know! Oh well, the Stila pigmentation made up for it! Xx
DeleteI love the look of the Stila one, I can't believe the CT is that pricey considering how many grams of product you get xx
ReplyDeleteGemma ♡ Miss Makeup Magpie
I know and not the pigmentation I was expecting! The Stila one is great! Xx
DeleteI really love the look of the Stila one, it looks so pretty! xx
